EVENTI E MANIFESTAZIONI A MONTEPULCIANO

I Maggio:
Fiera annuale e Festa di S. Agnese, patrona della città.

Fine Luglio-prima settimana di Agosto:
Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte, particolare rassegna di musica e teatro, fondato nel 1976 a Montepulciano dal compositore tedesco Hans Werner Henze, che si innamorò della città nel corso di una visita turistica.

Metà Agosto:
Spettacolo popolare "Il Bruscello", tipico spettacolo di tradizione contadina che veniva rappresentato nelle campagne toscane fin dal 1500.

Ultima domenica di Agosto:
Bravìo delle Botti, antica festa del 1372 "Bravium" o "Palium". La gara si svolge lungo la via principale della città, non più con cavalli, ma con botti del peso di oltre 80 kg., che vengono fatte rotolare per 1.800 m., in salita, da "spingitori" rappresentanti le otto contrade.

I May:
Annual Fair and Celebration of S. Agnese, the patron Saint of the town.

End of July - first week of August:
"Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte" (International Art Exhibition), wich is a particular music and theatre review established in 1976 here in Montepulciano by the German composer Hans Werner Henze, who fell in love with this town in one of his first visits as a tourist.

Mid August:
"Il Bruscello", typical show of farming tradition wich has been performed in the tuscan country-sides since the 16th century.

Last August Sunday:
"Bravìo delle Botti", an old celebration of 1372 called "Bravium" or "Palium". This race takes place along the main street of Montepulciano, and not with horses but with heavy barrels of over 80 Kg. wich have to be rolled up towards the highest part of town for 1.800 meters by athletes called "spingitori" who perform on behalf of the eight districts.
